Campfire, Conversation, Converence (CCC) and Go To GOTONG ROYONG :)

Hi smiler`
Long time no share you an interesting story because of my business :( forgive me.. But, now I have something to tell you about. :) keep reading, dear...

Well, Pak Ayi as one of fasilitator of Young Peacemaker Training (YPT) 2012, invite us (the participants of YPT) to join the CCC which is event that allows us to have an inter-religius dialog with other people from different culture and country, building friendship around high-adventure activities such as surfing, climbing, hiking, in beautiful East Java, through shared experience, our friendship transcend boundaries and build unity of spirit. But we can join this event only with two conditions: we must fill the form and be active in our discussion on YPT. So easy! But the problem is only two person that may get a luck. Two person!

I still sent my form by email although I know I won’t be elected. I’m not a talkative person so I don’t wanna look like the most active person on that discussion. I just sent that email by wishing every participants may join the CCC so the form is a formality. Just wish.

Then, on the last day of YPT, Pak Ayi announced us who the lucky participant. And guess what, there’s my name! I’m elected! I can’t imagine it first. Haha thank God :)

There are 6 persons who sent the form and all of them can join that event: Barni, Hendri, Imron, Siska, Winda (me), and mba Azie.

CCC held in Pacitan, East Java, on July 13-15th, 2012. So we gathered at Mr. Ardi’s Apartment first before we left Jogja on Friday’s afternoon. At there, we met the other participants from Bandung and Tasik: Mas Ipung, Mba Dea, Mba Hadin, Zahra, JeBe, and Qisti. We acquainted with the Blount’s Family too: Mr. Ardi, Mariallen, Duncan, Allysa, Elaina, Reed, and Alison. :)

Before we left, Duncan teach us how to sing ‘Go To Gotong Royong’ first. He’s playing that guitar so cool. I think I can’t play guitar as well as him. Huhu..

On the way to Villa, we saw ‘Rumah Kediaman SBY’ at Pacitan City. But sorry, I didn’t bring my camera so that I can take that picture.

We arrived at Villa when sunset shows its beauty. We take a rest for a few moment while we acquainted with Mba Tina, Mas Gayung, and Mas Edo. Mba Tina is American but she can speak Indonesian so well because she’s lived in Indonesia for two years. And Mas Gayun and Mas Edo are surfer. They can surf on the wave so good.

There’s a little weird when one use Javanesse, one use Sundanesse, and one use English. So weird because I can speak that language well. Hehe

After dinner, we try to learn the ‘Go To Gotong Royong’ song again before we take a rest.

On the second day, we gathered in again at 6am and went to Pancer Beach. Mr. Ardi asked us to bring our bath towel, because we will learn how to surf. Yeah, surfing! I love this J Pancer Beach is not so far from the villa. We only need 10minutes to get there.

Before surf, Mr. Ardi tell us about surfing and surf board. He said that there are three parts of surf board that we must know: stringer, crails, and scage. Stringer is a linear line that we stand on to make us balance. Crails are the part on right and left side that we must hold before we can stand on the board. And scage? I forget what it’s function but it is so important too :)

Before try on the water, we draw the surf-board first on the beach-sand. We must practice the way we stand on the surf-board. It’s so important to know that we facing on the right side or left one.

I’m so afraid to try surfing. As you know, I can’t swim anymore. I’m afraid that wave can bring me to the middle of the sea, or sink on the water. But Pak Ayi told me that we’ve got to be here to learn how to surf, no problem you can swim or not. And luckily, the water is not so deep, just waist-high. Finally, I try to surf. Mr. Edo teach me. I hold his hand so strong because the wave too easy to bring me haha I’m so thin (for your information) :D

Surfing is so amazing! This is my first experience to have surfing you know. I really really enjoy it :)

at Pancer Beach
Mr. Ardi explains us the part of surf-board

At 8am we go back to the villa for take a bath and have a breakfast together. Before we eat, Mr. Ardi teach us the song ‘Thank Him’ as a give thanks prayer.

Thank Him, Thank Him
Gonna thank Him in the pagi
Thank Him in the siang
Thank Him, thank Him
Gonna thank Him when the sun goes down

Mba Tina serve us the American food as the breakfast. Like a banana pancake with fruit salad. So yummy although I don’t use to eat that :D

Mba Dea's food :D

After breakfast, we have a discussion about our stereotypes about Indonesian and American. I have a small group with Qisti, mas Hendri, and Duncan. It’s so interesting to share our opinion about expectation about American or Indonesian. Duncan ever thought that all of Indonesian can do is ask for money. “Rupiah.. Rupiah..!” And I ever thought ‘bule’ is an arrogant person. But finally all of us know that it’s not true. That’s why it’s so important for us to change our stereotypes.

my small group discussion

After finished our discussion, we should do our next activity: CLIMBING! Mr. Ardi has prepared every stuff the we need. But the climbing must be pending because this morning tha rain poured down so it’s still wet. Huhu..

As the substitute, Mr. Ardi bring us to Tamperan Beach for taking somo photos :D

We just stop-off here, just for a few moment. After that we continue our trip to Watu Karung. I think Watu Karung 11:12 with Sundak Beach in Jogja. The sand is white, so many coral-reef there, and we cannot be allowed to swim there. So we just played around the beach, take some photos yeah of course :D

Oh ya, in Indonesia tradition, if you don eat ‘rice’, you cannot say that you have eaten :D Me and my friends from Indonesia were so starving that afternoon. So we buy food at ‘warung pinggir pantai’. So expensive you know -,- a bowl of noodle costs 7000 Rupiah. But Imron said that don’t think how price if it’s about food. So we buy that food and eat it ‘sepiring berlima’. Haha.. one bowl for 5 persons :D not only noodle, we eat fried rice too.

An early evening we go back to the villa. So tired but I’m happy :D Then we have a ‘lately’ lunch. Mba Tina cooked us ‘soto’. Indonesian food you know. Ahaha finally we truly ‘eat’ :D with ‘kerupuk’ of cource. Crackers! In evening, we should have a campfire on the beach. But, yeah, because of rain again, the wooden is still wet. So we play ‘a magic wand’. A magic wand is a magic that change us temporary; Moslem to be Christiant and Christiant to be moslem. This magic helps us to teach what that religion used to :)

Mr. Ardi used the magic wand

After finished discussion, Mr. Ardi allows us to take a rest. But, I prefer to playing card before sleep. Haha. Then Allysa asks us to play ‘set’ card. I love love love this game so much because I’ve got a winner haha :D

Hmm,
The third day, at 6am, we have surfing back but in another beach. The water is so cold and the wave is so strong. It’s good for surfing but I cannot stay so long in the water because it’s like ice. Cold! I just try surfing once huhu

Oh ya, there’s a funny thing when we got breakfast. Mbak Tina has prepared American food, like fruit salad with bread. But me and Indonesia people other better eat RICE than bread, you know. Ahahaa. You can’t say yoh have eaten if you don’t eat rice :D

So as usual, in the last day, we’ve discission session. This is the important part I think. When everybody share what they have got from 3 days CCC. In Indonesian may called ‘kesan dan pesan’. This is the first time I do same activities, play and share together with American people. I ever had a discussion before but this is so different. You talk about you, I talk about me. Gotong royong teachs our hearts humality, how to live and how to be in a global community. Together we reach for peace. :)
Define + observe = knowledge :)

this is the song that of gotong royong:

Go To Gorong Royong
(words and musics by Duncan Blount)

Here we are sitting on the beach
Teaching our hearts humility
How to live and how to be
In a global commune... community
(Chorus) go... go to gotong royong
We sing this song to help us carry on
Go! ooWoahoowoah gotong royong
Together we pull the load so we can go
Here we are sitting on the beach
Teaching our hearts humility
You’ll talk about you I’ll talk about me
Together we reach.. reach for peace
(Chorus) go... go to gotong royong
We sing this song to help us carry on
Go! ooWoahoowoah gotong royong Together we pull the load so we can go

I'll miss all of you guys :')

Gotong Royong

Love you all,
Winda :)
